Alec Adams, a Brazilian solo metal artist, announces the release of “Ballad of Humanity,” his debut EP. The six-track collection represents the culmination of a creative journey that began with two previously released singles, “Night Knives” and “Blood Metal,” and marks a significant artistic evolution for the project.
Every instrument on the EP — guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, and orchestral arrangements — was written, performed, recorded, and produced by Alec Adams alone. The result is a deeply personal work that moves between gothic atmosphere, progressive dynamics, and cinematic weight, drawing comparisons to artists such as Ghost, Opeth, Katatonia, Sisters of Mercy, and Nevermore.
“Ballad of Humanity” unfolds as a thematic arc across its six tracks. It opens with the societal critique of “Mind Control Device” — an examination of how technology and institutions pacify the individual — and moves through deeply personal territory with “Big Eddy,” a raw confrontation with betrayal and broken trust. “Monstrocracy” expands into political commentary, questioning who the real monsters are when those in power weaponize fear and erase history.
The second half of the EP turns inward. “Lady Death” personifies Death as a gothic maternal figure — the “Holy Mother of Goths” — offering refuge to those rejected by the world of light. “Sacred Night” is the EP’s most intimate moment: a solitary walk through empty streets, searching for identity amidst pain and self-doubt. The title track, “Ballad of Humanity,” closes the arc with a sweeping, orchestral meditation on humankind’s capacity for self-destruction — a masked ball where everyone dances while the world burns.
The cover art, created by illustrator and concept artist Giovanna Guimarães, depicts a lavish masquerade ball populated by figures wearing animal masks — a pig, a crow, a fox, a lion — dancing in elegant period attire. At the center stands a motionless figure in a crow mask and top hat, observing the spectacle. The artwork serves as a direct visual translation of the EP’s title track and its central themes of deception, performative humanity, and willful blindness to the darkness within.

Here comes the age of tomorrow
The pinnacle of evolution
Where we won’t need to grow
We’ll be controled by institutions
Society’s deprived
Of that which should make all us human
But we’ll be pacified
By the object of our reclusion
It’s the
Mind control device
We carry around and forget sometimes
That the mind controls the vice
But they don’t want you to try
Because they want you to be tame
We will be one with the masses
For there’s no room for all but passivity
The Cult Of Ignorance
Led upon by the shells of queens and kings
And they’re not satisfied
There’s always room for more confusion
Our mental suicide
By the totem of our occlusion
It’s the
Mind control device
We carry around and forget sometimes
That the mind controls device
But they don’t want you to try
Because they want you to be tame
Mind control device
We must remind ourselves
The mind controls the vice
Always controlling is the
Mind control device
Why can’t we free ourselves?
The mind controls the vice
Mind Control Device
We carry around and forget sometimes
That the mind controls device
But they don’t want you to try
Because they want you to be tame
Your jealously ignored, I should’ve seen before
A series of pathetic screams over a fucking door
I bet you think you’re great for beating up your friend
And even after a whole year I see your lies won’t end
Tell me what you’re gonna do
You’re gonna kill me?
Maybe that’s why you call yourself Big Eddy
And no matter what you do
You’ll never be me
Everyone can see behind your act
So petty
And to your lying face
I don’t know what else to say
It’s not my place to execute
Read into your foul play
Your jury, judge and executioner
Will show up in your life
And maybe then you’ll see no use
To your unwavering strife
And to think that I look up to you before being cast aside
Nine years of envy and deceit passed right before my eyes
I sense I’ve left so much pass by thanks to my lonely glare
I’m baffled, all but mistified that just now I’m aware
Tell me what you’re gonna do
You’re gonna kill me?
Maybe that’s why you call yourself Big Eddy
And no matter what you do
You’ll never be me
Everyone can see behind your act
So petty
I find it all pathetic, your impulsion to deceive
All words you claim to be true seem so gray
You should put in more effort
And atleast just try to be
Something more than just an asshole
But that’s just me
Tell me what you’re gonna do
You’re gonna kill me?
Maybe that’s why you call yourself Big Eddy
And no matter what you do
You’ll never be me
Everyone can see behind your act
So petty
I wonder if you really do
Think you can reach me
Get your head together
You’re not so big, Eddy
Tell me what you’re gonna do
My dear old friend
Please set aside
I wanna bring forth a tale of divide
As fates are defined by TV screens
The washed-up politician tells you lies you’ve seen
The enemy is here
Breaking and invading the economy
I see but one possibility
We need to cut out and destroy the weeds
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are one themselves
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are ones themselves
All the bright lights
Bodies and debris is all that you can see
They sure hope you don’t have good memory
For your heroes are now erasing history
Lock all your doors
They are not a part of humanity
Advert your eyes, protect your family
Our soldiers will make sure that they will never be
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are one themselves
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are ones themselves
My oldest friend is here
Say hi to democracy
Part-time idolatry
For now you’ll stay with me
Who is there?
Are you here to take me too?
After all I’ve done for you
When will it be enough?
Who is your enemy?
The malnourished kids
The bodies you burned
The people trying to get away
Who is your enemy?
The people of age
The sick and the poor
The folks who wanted to be safe
Eyes open wide
Now It’s up for the party to decide
Who gets to live and who gets to die
They’ll be sure every murder counts as suicide
And they don’t hide
All they say are lies on the other side
Be sure to fight each other and stay pacified
For reality exists in the human mind
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are one themselves
Beware of those who speak of monsters
For they are ones themselves
Oh my child, so innocent
You gave your days to make amends
Now I see, you lost your ways
Obeyed the rules of this wicked game
Now hear my words, you heard she say
Don’t play their game
At first you thought she went insane
She then proclaimed
The language they speak
Omitting our names
We’re the ones they should seek
Yet they send us the blame
For gloom is our way
And death our divine
They’ll soon meet their ends
It’s just a matter of time
Holy Mother of Goths
Bring me the peace to my soul
They took from me so long ago
To you, Lady Death, I cease my control
Oh dear Mother of Goths
I’ve left my lovers behind, you see
To join you in the faint melody
I hear you sing to put us to sleep
There’s one thing you have to learn
You’ve reached the point of no return
I am here to ease your way
Upon her arms you have to lay
How long you suffered in the light
Beneath the seams
Hiding your tears, the mask you wear
Upon echoed screams
Let they say you are weak
Morior Invictus
(We hear the symphony)
Let they call you a freak
We’re aware of their play
(She plays when we are sick)
Now the world is in flames
And we’re in the way
(Oh Lady, break us free)
Just make us believe
All we can do is pray
Holy Mother of Goths
Bring me the peace to my soul
They took from me so long ago
To you, Lady Death, I cease my control
Oh dear Mother of Goths
I’ve left my lovers behind, you see
To join you in the faint melody
I hear you sing to put us to sleep
Know misery before you face it
It’s still not the time to go
(Sing with me)
The demons draw to complete the ritual
Don’t drown yourself in your own woes
She has a place for you, of that you can be sure
Don’t blame yourself for the failures of those in your world
Just see who you are and how much more you can be
Get back to your senses, there’s so much you should see
The language they speak
Omitting our names
Says they’ll soon meet their ends
It’s just a matter of time
Holy Mother of Goths
Bring me the peace to my soul
They took from me so long ago
To you, Lady Death, I cease my control
Oh dear Mother of Goths
I’ve left my lovers behind, you see
To frolick around in your tragedy
While they run for their lives
As I return through empty streets
My mind and dreams are back to me
They all seem so bereft of sense
My hollowed soul just plays pretend
I ask, where could it be?
The answer stares back at me
It seems that I’m a friend to me
After all the sins
Fear not for it will be alright
I hear them say this sacred night
The thoughts of old I’ve left behind
This wretched goal that’s lost to time
I pray that I’ll see the day
This pain of mine will go alway
And I will learn what’s truly me
Amidst this endless sea
And all I ask is a sip of wine
To silence the screams of this shattered mind
I lost all that I had and I have no one to blame
But this husk of a good man that I’ve now became
I pray and plead to the lord above
For the source of this forgotten love
I have for all that is like her
Is there an answer?
Fear not for it will be alright
I hear them say this sacred night
The thoughts of old I’ve left behind
This wretched goal that’s lost to time
I know that I should heal myself
Before I bleed in someone else
In years of pain, fall after fall
It feels that nothing’s changed at all
Before the night is over
You’ll see the evil that I see
Frolicking masked as the moonlight closes
It’s near complete, the Devil’s recipe
In their elegant woven attire
Dark truths reside, our tragedy
The figure stands in center motionless
As they dance around, can they not see?
Do you hear?
Do you feel our hymn getting near?
Do they know?
It seems it’s to start the show
We dance to the fire in glee
Pretend we have somewhere to flee
But we never really kept our sanctity
This is the Ballad Of Our Humanity
Pain is our solace
The only way we really feel
The human faith is framed in distrust
In the name of pain we’ve shaped ideals
In a blood stricken world I reason
Our spirit’s destined to be tamed
We’ve long prospered in our treason
Cultivated the innocent with our hate
Do you see?
Do you see the masked breaking free?
Did you know?
It started long before you saw the crow
We dance to the fire in glee
Pretend we have somewhere to flee
But we never really kept our sanctity
This is the Ballad Of Our Humanity
We’re divided by nations
United by our love the gun
We dance to the deaths of our young martyrs
While crumbling one by one
We’ve given into our temptations
Flew into the heat of sun
What a wonderful world of greed and death
We’ve crafted for our unborn sons
“May this song leave you certain
That humanity will never cease conflict
Thousands of years of civilization, hundreds more to come
And even I can tell, only the dead will see the end of it”
The night is over
Destruction rains into our light
We’d never live through our own might
Now let us die
They say we’ll see
Our ressurrection
Gather our pain so beautifully
And end our blight
We dance to the fire in glee
Pretend we have somewhere to flee
But we never really kept our sanctity
This is the Ballad Of Our Humanity
